"Woody" – Our Wonder Dog
Forever my boy.
From the moment I collected him from his breeder in Wales, Woody was mine, and I was his. He looked at me with eyes full of love, like he already knew we belonged to each other. He didn’t need to demand attention or cause a fuss, he’d simply sit on the chair beside me while I worked, waiting quietly, patiently, until I was ready to hold him in my arms like a baby. And when I was, he’d melt into me like he’d been waiting his whole life for that moment.
Woody wasn’t just my first poodle boy, he was the start of everything. The beginning of my love for the breed. The foundation of our line. The calm, steady heartbeat behind so many of our poodles today. He was a wonderful stud too, so patient, kind and reliable to the core. During COVID and beyond, he quietly and proudly sired beautiful babies, including our Louby Lou, who is the image of him not just in looks, but in her steady, fair nature and deep love for our children. He was always so calmly in charge — never bossy, never reactive. Just respected. No one messed with Woody, and Woody never needed to mess with anyone. Our Monkey is lost without him now. Woody was his compass, the quiet guide that helped him know where the boundaries were. And I feel the same. Woody grounded me in ways I’m only realising now that he’s gone.
We lost him far too soon. A sudden, unknown illness stole him from us in just 12 hours, despite everything our wonderful vets tried to do. And now my world feels so much quieter, so much heavier. I owe that boy everything, not just the beautiful dogs he’s left behind, but the passion he sparked in me for this incredible breed. My only wish is that I’d had longer with him. More time to tell him, to show him, how much he means to me. How loved he truly is.
He was my heart. A soul dog. Mummy’s best boy. Sleep well, Woody the Wonder Dog.
You were too good for this world - but I’m so grateful you chose mine. XX
Rest in Peace My Boy
